Flashback

Today I was talking to Brett's Grandma Vicki on the phone (she's really my Grandma more, ha) and I don't know how it got started but I was telling her about the walkie talkies my Dad and Mom used to have to communicate while my Dad was farming.  No cell phones were used, just walkie talkies (crazy right?) so then I got to thinking this would be a GREAT blog to write about.... everything that I grew up with in the 90's.  You will be able to see in the pictures how times have changed even since I was young.
( I am really not that old (28) so this just blows me away and how things are so much different now!)

Here is the 90's.......

One of my favorite shows, it never gets old

My friends and I each had one of these
(I remember getting in trouble with mine in class, oops)

You can still get these, Brandt got one the other day
(fun for kids and adults)

Another favorite show of mine that never gets old

LOVED these.. I made my Mom buy them for me, it made her sick to look at them(ha ha)

This is so true for my kids

I believe my friends and I had these(snap on bracelets)

I never had a phone like this, but I do remember them

I had these exact ones
( I didn't get my ears pierced till I was 14)

Anybody remember TGIF series on Friday nights?
(this show was on that, I really liked it)

Flavored Pop Chapstick
(I remember getting these for Christmas)

Nintendo(original).. my FAVE.. I used to play this about every night

Not sure if you can still get these?

My brother had this Teddy

I didn't have a cell phone quite this big but it was a decent size with just as big of an antenna on it (lol)

My friends and I loved this group, we used to blare the song "No Scrubs"

Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?
(I liked this show too)

Yep, I had a chair like this, it was pink:)

Left side(me) and Right side(now)
My, how times have changed!

Here is the walkie talkies.. My Mom used to have to say our telephone number followed by do you have a copy? When they were done with the conversation they would say "Ten Four".  I used to beg my Mom to talk, it was fun!

Overall I would say that we have it a lot easier with the technology we have today.  However, I would still want to go back to the 90's, I just loved all the things the 90's had to offer.

I also think it would be fun to go to the 50's and hang out in the older diners they had, drinking sodas while listening to my favorite oldies, that would be fun, maybe just for a week, then I would want to come back to our luxury of technology(ha ha).

Do you ever wish you could jump in a time machine and go back to the year you grew up in, or any other year?

Till next time.......

  1. Hi Ashley! Just hopped over from Kelly's Korner and LOVE this post. Um... is it bad that I can still do the rap part to the TLC Waterfalls song? Stick on earrings and Nintendo's?! What a great walk down memory lane. Thanks for posting and I can't wait to read more. Hope you'll stop by and follow back!
